School-Based Counseling
Bringing mental health support where students are
Through Brighter Beginnings by Kairos Counselings, we provide school-based mental health services in Wareham, MA and Mashpee, MA school districts. The goal is simple: reduce friction, increase access, and support students early, before stress becomes a crisis.
Online forms are for non-urgent needs. If you or someone you care for is in crisis, call 988 or your local emergency number.

Why school-based services matter
When care lives inside the school day, support becomes truly accessible, not just technically available.
Barriers we reduce or remove:
-
No transportation required
-
Less missed work for parents and caregivers
-
Fewer delays created by logistics
-
Support happens in the environment where the struggle often shows up
-
Earlier intervention while patterns are still changeable
School-based care works best when it is practical, paced, and collaborative, with a clear plan and clear boundaries.
What our school-based care looks like
Our work is somatic-informed and trauma-aware, which means we pay attention to the nervous system, body cues, and stress responses alongside thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. We focus on regulation and capacity-building, not labelling.
Depending on student need and school structure, support may include:
Individual counseling during the school day
Regulation tools (grounding, breath, movement, sensory supports) that fit real classrooms and real homes
Caregiver collaboration, with clear, practical strategies for carryover
Coordination with school teams when appropriate and authorized
Skill-building groups or workshopsΒ when available and when the fit is right
Who this is for
School-based services are for students in participating Wareham and Mashpee schools who may be experiencing:
-
Anxiety, stress, shutdown, or overwhelm
-
Behaviour changes, emotional outbursts, or withdrawal
-
Family transitions, grief, or instability
-
Trauma and post-trauma responses
-
School avoidance, peer conflict, or persistent dysregulation
-
Attention, sensory, or sleep-related difficulties that affect daily functioning
Students do not need a formal diagnosis to receive support.

Our partnership approach
We work alongside the dedicated counsellors, administrators, educators, and support staff who already carry so much. Mental health is not separate from education. It is the foundation that makes learning possible.
Partnership priorities:
-
Clear referral and communication pathways
-
A collaborative rhythm that respects school flow and student dignity
-
Consistent boundaries, consent, and privacy practices
-
A shared aim: student wellbeing that strengthens learning and connection
How to get started
Referrals use the same pathway as Brighter Beginnings services.
